the list

i made it through last night by just sitting for a while. my nutritionist wants me to come up with a list of active and passive things to replace the disorder on the list-of-things-to-do-when-i'm-stressed. well realistically, probably not to replace the disorder, but to push it further down the list so that i have some good alternatives. so i came up with/put into action 3 that helped last night: just sitting, a hot shower, and lighting a pumpkin candle. as i was just sitting, i really didn't want to do anything "enjoyable" (and i probably wouldn't have enjoyed it anyway) such as reading or crocheting, although these can go on the list too-- i need lots of different options for different situations. anyone here have a list? i'd love to hear...

it was brisk this morning (i've been keeping my balcony door open) and i knew immediately that i wanted oat bran. i was hungry when i woke up, which was a bit of a relief.

today's mix:
  • in the pot: 1/3 c oat bran, 1/3 c vanilla soymilk, 1/3 c water, 1/2 banana
  • topped with: 1 medjool date, 1/2 cashew cookie larabar, remaining 1/2 of an opened maple-almond butter packet

either i ate more than 1/2 the maple-almond butter packet last time, or i typically use more than 95 calories worth of almond butter in my oatmeal (what 1/2 of a packet would be), because it seemed slightly skimpy on the almond butter! i wish the maple-almond butter came in jars, as i don't measure my nut butters anyway (probably some people's rationale for buying the pre-portioned packets, in addition to portability). random: i just pictured myself smearing said almond butter onto a hot & toasty panera or whole foods bagel, and suddenly i'm craving a bagel (well not now, i'm quite full, but i will have to satisfy that craving sometime in the near future!).

cop-out lunch:

amy's burrito especial, mix baked blue corn & sweet potato tortilla chips, baby carrots & grape tomatoes

i don't need to pack a snack, because our company is having a "taste of NY" event this afternoon to celebrate the start of our new client, New York State (a LOT of business for us). there will be bites of cheesecake, pizza, wings, apples & dip, and other new york goodies. i doubt i will want pizza or wings at 3, when we plan on serving everything, but a bite of cheesecake... YES!

  1. I have a list but to be honest, I never look at it.... it`s posted on my fridge.

I bought oat bran yesterday and thought of you. I`ve never made it but I am excited to try something different! Any tips from the Oat bran guru?
