taking it easy

unbeknownst to my boss, i'm taking a half day today. my boss is in a meeting right now anyway, and i'm fairly positive she will not mind. i have a meeting from 11-12 and another from 2-3, so i plan on working from around 11-3. i'm just beat and i want some time to myself. i know my slip on monday had to do with overstress, and i really need to be mindful of that. this morning i let myself sleep until 7:30, and decided i still wanted to go for a run, even as late as it was. it's ME FIRST today.

i had the last piece of whole foods granola bar before i left (sorry, no picture!) and then went to the gym for a nice 3 mile run. it was raining out, and i didn't really feel like running in the rain this time.

oat bran is the best post-run breakfast:
  • 1/2 c oatbran, 1/2 c vanilla soymilk, 1/2 c water
  • small banana
  • topped with: 1/2 cashew cookie larabar, at least 1/2 of a maple-almond-butter squeeze pak (so probably a bit over 1 T), very small drizzle of maple syrup

so i may regret this, but i packed a lunch similar to my breakfast! i peeked into the fridge and thought... hmmm last night's leftovers? a veggie burger w/cheese on a toasted pita or english muffin? a bell pepper and avocado or hummus sandwich? but then i realized just how long it has been since i've had a banana-almond butter sandwich (weeks!) and decided i'd take the risk of monotony. so here's what i packed:

i probably should have waited until after breakfast to pack lunch, because now that i am very full of oatbran and banana, i probably wouldn't pack the lunch that i packed! but 'tsok. i'm betting tomorrow i will want lots and lots of fresh fruit and veggies.
